I'm thinking of getting my accounting degree online.... Do you go to college online? What am I suppose to look for in an online college? Did you get a job?

I already tried online high school and couldn't use it for real college, so I got my GED. I dont want to waste the money.

Thanks

I do not recommend strayer. Go to an actual college (my def is some place like NMSU or UNM for nm or asu for az nt strayer or university of pheonix) bc jus for 9 months of college it cost me almost 16000 and i cudnt transfer any of my credits anywhere. Plus they didnt have any of the classes i truly wanted (cna/rn anything medical other than the bachelors in science)

I'm currently a medical assistant but not sure if I want to do it anymore so I'm looking at my options.

I am currently attending college online. I did a ton of research and made sure that the college I am attending is an accredited online university. I am getting my bachelor's degree in criminal justice from penn foster. I was accepted into the penn state criminal justice program, but it would have cost me over $65,000, with financial aid. Penn foster is only going to cost me $25,000 and is accredited in my state, they help with job placement, and upon graduation I have the opportunity to walk and get my diploma.

I don't currently do online college, but in HS I took extra college courses online in my own time.  I really wouldn't trust any of those online colleges they advertise online.  Most of their credits are not transferrable.  See if your local community college offers online courses.  That way you KNOW they are transferrable, and that there is a brick and mortar location incase you need help.

You have a good point! A few years ago I was trying to get my paralegal degree, and I got totally screwed over! The correspondence school I started with was accredited in my state, but halfway thru my schooling, the "college" was bought out by another that was not accredited in my state. That's why I did so much research before I committed to my current online university. I have found that an accredited school required "proctored" examinations. Which is a pain in the butt to set up, but proctered exams are for real.

Well I have to say I disagree about University of Pheonix being non acredited - they are the number one for online and I love them. They even give the books and such free once you are in masters programs and they re very helpful in the academic advisors area. I received my AA in Criminal Justice there, then I worked on my BA in human resource managment, now I am 7 courses from my MA in pshychology and counseling - my ultimate goal. I have only had good from them, they transferred all my previous school classes and have helped me when ever I need it to include the nice military discount I get for hubby being active duty.
If you are trying to find a good match for you, I feel u have to apply for more information and then speak with a live person to give you a real feel for that schools online environment - then make your decision based on what you ve researched, learned and heard from others. Gl!

I take online college courses and it works out really well. I take classes through a community college that is a brick and mortar building. They have several degrees that are offered 100% online, but I still had to take a compass or placement test at the actual school. If your local community college offers online classes that are of interest to you, I would say that is the best way to go. I talked to the university of pheonix as as well as some others and the cost alone was enough to make me re-consider. Where I am going now it is something like 130.00 per credit hour.

I work for an online school. We have low monthly payment plans and a few grant programs for military spouses. If you are a student who is not affiliated with the military and would like info; e-mail me asap, let me know you are interested in info: davianewman@aol.com

*be sure to let me know you are not a military spouse; because mostly I work in that dept. and want to make sure I give you the correct info. We have courses in real estate, pharmacy tech, medical, business, legal, etc.
