A Celeb who is behaving and doing something nice
MERRIMAC, Mass. -- A 6-year old Merrimac girl who is fighting a rare form of brain cancer fulfilled her dream of meeting pop star Justin Bieber Monday.
Avalanna Routh's family and friends had organized a social media campaign on Facebook and Twitter in order to get Bieber's attention.
Routh suffers from cancer called atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor. Only about 30 new case of AT/RT are diagnosed in the U.S. each year, according to a website committed to finding a cure for the disease.
The cancer is highly malignant, has a high morality rate and there is no cure.
Routh was diagnosed with the disease when she was 8 months old.
An intermediary arranged for a call with Routh's mother and Justin Bieber's manager.
Within days the family got a call to come to New York to meet with Bieber and just in time for Valentine's Day, the young girl and Bieber met privately.
"That was one of the best things I have ever done. She was AWESOME!" Bieber posted on his Twitter account.
Others on Twitter reacted quickly to the meeting.
"You are incredibly selfless to have taken the time so meet her today!" wrote the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Faber Cancer Center in Boston.
I do not really care for him as well but in this day of think of yourself first it is nice to see one doing something nice.
