Police, child services visit man who shot daughter's laptop
ALBEMARLE, NC (WIS) - The North Carolina man who became an instant celebrity after posting a video on YouTube shooting up his 15-year-old daughter's laptop, got a visit from the police department and child protective services last week.
Tommy Jordan posted the eight-minute video last Wednesday after finding posts that his daughter put on Facebook about her parents.
The ticked off father's video quickly went viral and already has nearly 23 million views on YouTube.
"Apparently both the local police and the department of social services are OK with it," he wrote on his Facebook timeline. "Yes they came. Of course they came. They received enough 'Oh my God he's going to kill his daughter' comments that they had to. I knew that the moment it went viral.. it was too late and it was inevitable."
"The kind lady from Child Protective Services looked all through the house, the yard, and found ours to be a healthy home," continued Jordan. "She saw the unloaded guns in their rack with the magazines removed and stored separately and safely. Funny thing: The case officer asked to see "the gun".... 'Umm, sir, may I see the actual..umm.. weapon used for the video?' She wasn't at all scared of me, but I could tell she doesn't like guns as a general."
Jordan says the child services agent interviewed his daughter for about an hour and a half.
"At the end of the day, no I'm not losing my kids, no one's in danger of being ripped from our home that I know of," wrote Jordan. "And I actually got to spend some time with the nice lady and learn some cool parenting tips that I didn't know."
Would he do it again? Yes, but with some small changes. First, he says he's get rid of the cigarette. He says his wife hates his habit.
He also says that he shouldn't have said his daughter should "get off her lazy ass." "That was rude and a bad example of a parent using the 'Do as I say, not as I do' philosophy," wrote Jordan.
"That's it. I meant all the rest of it. My wife is OK with it. My daughter is OK with it. My Mother is OK with it. I'm OK with it. We're the only ones that matter."
The only way Jordan has communicated with the world after the viral spread of his video has been through his Facebook page.
In the days following his posting of the video, Jordan says he has fielded many requests for interviews and even had to have a friend throw somebody from 'Good Morning America' off of his property.
He maintains that he did not post the video for attention or to make money.
Had he distroyed the laptop with a sledge hammer or tossed it in the lake, people wouldn't bat an eye.
So true!

This is a good daddy. Daughters with a strong LOVING daddy do not tend to seek out men that are wrong for them. My husband had a routine that he went through with each of our 3 daughters when they began dating. Any time they went out the guy HAD to come inside (no honking for them to run outside) and meet us or speak to us. If it was the 1st time they had gone out with a particular guy, hmy husband would walk up to them, put his arm real friendly like around their shoulders, and say, "son.... you see that pretty girl over there?"..(gesture to the daughter of the moment)... "she's my baby.... my girl. I love her. She is my heart. If you EVER do anything to harm her in any way, just remember, there is NO WHERE you can go to hide from me." It mortified the girls at the time, but now they love their daddy for it.

OMG, I cracked up when I read the last part....my daughter's dad wasn't in her life when she started dating & I WAS the one who made the guy's come in, al tho one did try to honk, but he found out real quick, he wanted to date my 1 & only daughter, by gosh, he can come on in & meet her Mom 1st!! Heck with the dad, it's the MOM the guy's had to watch out for!!
I let them know, she's my babygirl, no matter how old she is & you don't wanna mess around with her, or this here Native will show ya how it feels to get scalped!! & its so funny too, cuz my daughter & my oldest son both, warned their dates when they were meeting me for the first time, not to be fooled, they swear I got some balls in my jeans somewhere!!!!
I musta did something right, being a single mom with my 2 oldest, cuz they both ended up with awesome folks to spend the rest of their lives with!!
