work :will my question be unprofessional and unwelcome?

I am on an unpaid leave so I have a lot of time to think. The unpaid leave is for Post partum depression and I had originally asked until the end of May as I didnt know how long it was going to take me from mid Dec to recover.

I am now ok to work but my supervisor had to put a temp under a contract until June 1. That's cool with me as LONG AS I HAVE A JOB from june 1.

The email I received from human resources indicates that it is a leave with return rights to work.

However, I am concerned and today I saw an opening for my field.

So i have been thinking it if is ok to show my weakness and contact human resources to ask if I really have a job for June .

Would that me inapprorpiate? would it make me look bad? like I dont trsut them? would it just sound like a responsible mother trying to make sure I provide for my son?

I really have no idea

I know that our HR lady would share this with the executive director

any ideas on this?

thanks

Tana

I think it would be very smart of you to ask and to re-assure them that you have every intention of returning and can come back earlier if they need someone!

I don't think it would hurt. They can't fire you for asking a question.

They don't have to hold YOUR position, they just have to provide you with an equal position when you come back.

I think talking to them is a good idea.  They could be wondering if you are going to come back.  Even though they have a temp in your old spot they may need you to fill in somewhere else.  And may be it is only part time so you have time to readjust to work after having extended leave.

I think it would be good to talk to them about it. It may show them that you still want to and plan to return and are thinking about work.

I would be asking for sure it you have a job June 1.  Its not wrong of you at all.

Think of it like this, if you found out on June 1st that you did not have a job, would you be upset that you didn't ask?

I would definitely contact them. Just ask if they are aware that you are still planning to return and tell them you look forward to coming back.
