Milk and Umbilical Hernia

My two month old daughter just started signs of her milk allergy. This is the common time for the eczema to appear for my breastfed babies. So I switched her to soy formula. In two days her umbilical hernia has just about gone away.

Can milk allergy cause umbilical hernias?

It makes sense, if you think about the milk allergy causing the intestines to swell.

I've never heard of it...a hernia is not due to intestinal swelling. You need to let her doctor know she has one as it can make that part of her intestine cause some very serious issues.

Umbillical hernias are caused by weak muscles. My dd has one. Its almost gone. They usually heal on their own.
