Please help me and dh solve a very important updated debate
update- we did it ladies he admired he was wrong and apologized said he will never leave the bathroom again! Thanks for your responses
I 100% agree with you. A baby should not be left in the tub with a 6 year old. I have a 7 year old, a three year old, and a 10 month old and I do not feel that my oldest should be babysitting the younger two. Sounds like you and daddy need to have a talk. Anyway, you're definitely right. I asked my husband what he thought about it and he agrees with me.
I left mine alone with each other some but not until my oldest was probably 5 and my youngest was 3. Also our tub was different then. It was in Italy. It was tiny with my 5 year old on a step and my 3 year old in the water. Most 6 year olds would not drown a toddler and alert parents. I think it depends on the kids. My 5 year old and 3 year old were fine for a few minutes here and there. Also a big difference between a 2 year old and 3 year old also.
I would lean on the side of caution and say you are right. I would often bathe my kids together and they are just about 4 years apart, but never left them longer than it took me to walk across the hall and get their jammies. I recently read that most young children will not make noise or struggle while they are drowning and therefore should always be supervised when in the water (this was in an article on swimming safety).
How has he been a father for 6 years and never learned that you never leave a baby alone in a tub? Or that small children should never be responsible for a baby?
