Ttc after a preemie

I need advice and insight ladies! My husband and I have been playing with the idea of ttc for baby 3, but I am scared to death! Ds (4) was born at 38 wks, via csection due to preeclampsia, but I had a premature labor scare at 32 weeks that landed me on bed rest for 6 weeks. Dd (2) was born at just 30 wks, via vbac, after spontaneous premature labor due to a ruptured placenta. She spent 4 weeks in the nicu and it was the hardest time of my life. I am a pretty healthy person, I'm just very small and my body doesn't take to pregnancy well. Has anyone here had a full term after a preemie? How hard we're subsequent pregnancies? I'm just nervous I'd have to be on bed rest the whole time, I'd have to hire someone to help me with the other too, and all in all I'm just nervous that it would be a selfish decision! Help!

I had a full term birth after a premie. My DS (13) was born at 35 weeks and was in the nicu for about a month. My DD (9) was full term. It all depends in the pregnancy. Each one is different. GL!

I have no experience with this but wanted to say good luck. Here's a BUMP. Hopefully some other moms can help.

I've never had that kind of problem. I think your best bet for help would be your doctor. Good luck!

I've talked to the doctor and she is confident that all problems with both pregnancies were isolated incidents, but her confidence seemed to be a little too much. This was actually just at my yearly and it almost felt as though she was pressuring me to have another. It's actually what initiated our talks about it. I think I may go see a geneticist and perinatologist to hear their opinions and maybe get some further testing done. I don't know how much genes has todo with it, but prematurity runs rampant in both of our families.

I had my little lady at 31 weeks. I went into spontaneous preterm labor at 30 weeks, but bed rest & Procardia helped me keep her in for 6 more days. I asked my doctor what the odds were of having another preemie, and he told me the risk of having another premature birth is about 80% until after 18 months. Idk if that's helpful or not, but it's the only statistic I am aware of. Good luck to you!
