Authorities say a 15-year-old Georgia girl told investigators she spent days at a time locked inside a small outhouse and a chicken coop, and was forced to wear a shock collar.

The girl's parents face multiple counts of child cruelty and false imprisonment. They are free on bond.

The couple, Samuel and Diana Franklin, declined to comment as they left the courthouse Thursday in Taylor County for what appeared to be a custody hearing.

Special Agent Wayne Smith of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the girl told investigators she was put in the outhouse and chicken coop as punishment for such things as not completing her school assignments.

Smith says the girl has been removed from the home.
