A 40-year-old man was arrested after allegedly washing his genitals in a Northwest Portland park drinking fountain.

A witness told Portland police Jamie Todd Hensler tried to speak to kids and toss a water balloon at them at about 8:14 a.m. Monday in Couch Park on Northwest Glisan Street.

Hensler then started taking off his clothes, said Sgt. Pete Simpson, a police bureau spokesman, and began washing his genitals in the park fountain.

The kids were about 10 feet away, said Simpson.

Hensler was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on misuse of a drinking fountain, indecent exposure and disorderly conduct charges. He was also issued a park exclusion.

Hensler is due in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Aug. 3 in connection to a separate incident on June 23 where he is accused of assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering another person.

He has pleaded not guilty to the accusations.

OK, that one has moved into the #1 spot for my list of reasons not to use public fountains.  Yuck!!!

And my dh questions me why I won't let the kids drink from a water fountain at the park. I need to show him this.
