A family shopping trip has ended with a 12-year-old girl getting Tasered by a police officer inside a Victoria’s Secret in St. Louis last week.

According to law enforcement officials, the unnamed officer came into the lingerie store at South County Center looking to arrest Dejamon Baker‘s mother on outstanding traffic tickets. However, it was her daughter who paid the price.

Baker, 12, told the station KSDK that the charge of the stun gun  coursing through her body has left her shaking on the floor, unable to control her limbs.

The prongs of the device got stuck in the girl’s chest and stomach, and her mother struggled to pull them out, leaving the teen with two small wounds on her body.

Last Wednesday, Baker, her mother, 27-year-old Charlene Bratton, and several other relatives went on a shopping trip to the local mall.

Bratton had just tried on a pair of shorts and was about to purchase them when she was confronted by a St. Louis County officer. Bratton said she had outstanding warrants for her arrest for numerous unresolved traffic tickets.

Next move: Charlotte Bratton plans to file a report with the police department's internal affairs to have the Tasering incident investigated

‘He said, ‘Put your hands behind your back,‘ and I said, ‘For what?’ Next thing you know, he tackled me down on the ground,’ she said.

That is when the 12-year-old girl said the officer turned to her as she stood nearby, weeping, and Tasered her.

‘I guess he got mad because I was crying or something,’ Baker said.

A police spokesman said the officer stated that the girl was physically interfering with the arrest  and would not back away, but both Dejamon and her mother deny that.

‘He should have had enough control to tell her to get back instead of pulling out his gun,’ Bratton said.

While officials said the arresting officer’s actions were justified, they do admit that it is a unique situation.

A spokesperson for the police department has suggested that Bratton report the incident to internal affairs to have it investigated.

This is why you don't break the law to begin with. It doesn't affect only you!

Yeah, but that really has nothing to do with this story or why actually went down.... Aren't we constantly trying to tech our kids not to judge people based on their looks?

Sounds like there's a lot more to this story, like why the officer would serve a warrant at a mall instead of coming to her home, whether the 12 year old was being aggressive.... Can't really come to any conclusion based on this fluff piece.

I teach my child the world forms opinions based on someone's looks and the way they speak. The mom and daughter portray themselves as trash. People who usually look like trash act like trash.

Not buying it. If she got zapped, she was doing something more than crying.

My ds weighs 115 at 12. I am sure if he wanted to he could physically cause a cop a problem. I am 195lbs, sometimes we wrestle. He can push me off balance without trying all that hard. And girls fight dirtier than boys. I bet there is more than we are beingtold..

Quoting CatherineNewton:

Why is it "unique situation". because they are black? Also that is aweful and he should not have tasered a little girl for crying! But something does seem off about this story. I am sure if they asked the store for there servalance they could see what really happened.

Unless he saw her and recognised her. If a cop knows you have warrents and sees you, they will get you.

Quoting msjaxon:

This. Police do not go searching for people with traffic warrants. Hell they don't even go searching for people with warrants for more serious offenses.

So what he was just sitting in the parking lot running random license plates or something? Doubtful...

Quoting lilpep100:

Something isn't right because he was stalking her! Those warrants are usually served by going to the house, or if they happen to pull her over again. This whole thing sounds fishy.

And the store will have it on video, all stores have video, especially by the counter.

I want to know how did he know the mom had tickets?  Where she was?

You know that kind of force is not necessary, officers are trained to use other types of their training tactics. He could've restrained the girl easily. I mean she's twelve and doesn't look like she's that strong. Ok. Next thing all this drama over a traffic tickets and warrants, what? Really? They really do need to be ashamed they are the real criminals here.
I say she needs a lawyer her daughters civil rights were totally trampled on. The officers clearly need more training. Can you say racial profiling? Come on what officer would really do that to someone, unless they are abusing their rights as a person of a higher authority. This is heart breaking our justice people. A tween. Better judgment needs to be used. Sad, really sad.
Just because she don't have the same style as everyone else she and her daughter should not be judged upon that alone. I am talking to the ladies on this sight that said she looks real classy. For one not my style, but I believe in equality. Not how she looks. Maybe this woman didn't use the best judgment needed, yea maybe she wasn't paying her tickets. Does that mean her daughter's civil rights are to be tossed because she was probably scared and was not using better judgment. As police officers they are required to up hold the LAW.
This is a real bad situation for anyone involved.

If she was attacking a police officer then no her civil rights were not violated. We don't know what actually happened since we aren't getting the story from any unbiased source but if you assault an officer and her subdues you with a tazer your rights were not violated.

This whole story is weird.

Who cares about how old mom was when she gave birth? Who cares about tattoos and gold teeth? --The crazy guy that shot up the fucking movie theatre had no tattoos or gold teeth and he had degrees? Apples and oranges.. Appearance isn't everything.

Again, this story is weird and missing a lot of info, IMO.

Do you also teach your child/children that if their mom is obese, the word views her as funky and lazy?

(by the way, 95% of children with a fat parent are fat, right).
