Neighbor With Noisy Kid (not a baby)...

i totally understand dealing with a child who does not want to go to sleep alone in the middle of the night. Been there, done that. I have 3 kids. You can't appease them just to shut them up. However, we have a neighbor whose child likes to yell at her parents (she's about 3) at 1am, 2am, 3am & 4am.  Pretty much on the hour.

Thier daughter's window faces our bedroom windows. At this point of the year, it is VERY hot where we live. We cannot install air conditioning due to association rules. Would it be awful to ask them to close thier child's window in the middle of the night while she is freaking out? She is VERY loud. It's hard enough with 90 degree temps to sleep. BTW, the other night, around 2am, the babe was asleep, but I heard the dad blabbering on for about 30 minutes. I think they may just have loud voices.

If it's that hot there, and without A/C.....if they closed the window, the next thing you'd see is CPS at their door.

That stinks, loud voices, screaming kids.

If it is that hot, then I would not ask them to close windows. Thats crazy that you cant have an AC. I have never even heard of any place that does not have AC. I guess maybe it is different here though, because our summer days are usually well over 100 degrees and sometimes it is still over 100 very late at night. You could maybe try talking to the parents and see if yall can come up with a solution, but other than that I would just wait it out and try to remember that fall is not that far away!

Maybe you could get one of those (pricy) portable A/C units.

Yeah I don't think you should confront them until u know what kinda ppl they are. The place you live at prolly has bad insulation that you can hear everything they are doing, and remember this, if u can hear them, they can hear you. We live in a apt complex that has very thin walls, and my two year old has always had bad sleeping patterns and it's something that I can not control as much and as everything that I have tried, and I know my neighbors get awoken by her yells bc I can hear them walking around. I do everything for her to fall back asleep but she still wakes up I. The next hr or so. Anyway, if they were to come up to me and tell me to keep
Her quiet or do something about the noice them I would tell them off and tell them to do something about their weight or sum.

If I was in your place, I would close my window and invest in an indoor portable AC that doesn't hang out the window.

This. I live in Florida. One cant live without open windows and no a/c. I have lived in apartments without central air but at least window units were in place. Buy an indoor moveable unit or a window fan, a white noise machine and earplugs. The window fan and the white noise machine will help muffle sounds.
