I want to get my daughter a puppy, she is 29 yrs old, she lives in an apartment by herself. She works everyday until 4:00.  Would it be cruel to get her a puppy when she wouldn't be home all day, people do have dogs and work.  How do they manage this? Or should I just forget it, she loved this little weiner dog and had to give it up after keeping it for awhile for a friend, plus her apartments then wouldn't let her have a pet, however, she can have one now.  I just don't know if she has the time for it!  All your suggestions are appreciated!!

I would look for an older dog that is already housebroken and can be on it's own during the day.  Less work for her, and even then, if there is someone who could take the dog out during the day it would be a lot better.  Plus, you'd be saving a life if you got an older dog from a rescue or a shelter.

Look into an older dog, puppies need alot of time and care, where an older dog is already housebroken  and you can find one who is generally content to just hang out.

A cat may be a better idea .Just pick one from the shelter that acts like a dog:)

You could get her a dog and have her take it to doggy daycare in the daytime so that the puppy doesn't have to be alone all day.

I'd suggest adopting a dog that's about 2 from a rescue.

She should be the person to make that kind of commitment.
