No reason other than her age. I asked if her dr went over the risks. She said no she didn't tell her there were any. I found risks online and showed her. She is pissed her dr didn't tell her any of them. She wants a new dr now.
That sucks :(
She has a right to refuse though.
Yes, I've heard of this. When my sisters were in high school, one of the girls in their art class got pregnant at 17 and her doctor scheduled an induction for her a few days ahead of her due date saying he didn't want her to labor for a long time. His explanation was that her body wasn't mature enough to handle the stress of a lengthy labor. The girl's mom scoffed at that because of the risks and refused to allow the doctor to induce her daughter early. The doctor then essentially "fired" her so they went to another doctor who said the idea of inducing early like that was nuts based on the risks associated with induction and allowed her to go into labor when she would, rather than forcing things along.
She won't be able to find another dr this late in the pregnancy. She can refuse to be induced though and wait to go naturally.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with "long labor" and everything to do with the dr wanting to control when she has the baby. My old ob did this. But the induction didn't work. I ended up having an emergency c-section because my dr didn't want to wait. I was 1 cm dialated 50% effaced after 12 hrs of cervadil. He didn't even try pitocin. Also, he was inducing me at 36 wks stating IUGR, which also wasn't true. Dd came out at the weight and length she was supposed to be at 36 wks.

She's 10 weeks! The dr already wants to do this stuff.

I gave her a pro-con list of the epidural. She saw increased risk of c-section and said no. She really doesn't want the scar, lol.
The risks of pit scared her to death.
Quoting LexRi0709:
Oh. I assumed she was later in the pregnancy since this was being discussed. She needs to find a new dr asap! There is no reason to induce a teen, or anyone early unless its medically necessary. Childbirth isn't supposed to be by convienience!

Seems stupid. Teens had babies just fine back when it was normal to marry at 14.

The majority of girls on teen Mom show are induced and not even late or right at their due date. I don't get it. I had to wait to be 2 weeks late to be induced.
Quoting kitty8199:
That's what I told her. I said the more medical interventions you introduce the more chance of something going wrong. It is way too soon to discuss this stuff.
