Hey my name is Amanda and I am starting a petition against my son Alexander's health insurance company for denying him his RSV shot for all the wrong reasons. I wanted to see if you could help by adding your name.

Our goal is to get as many signatures as possible and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here:

Why did they deny him?

They denied him because they said his heart isn't bad enough but if he doesn't take his heart medication he will die. And they just don't think that it's bad. Sorry but if they don't think that my baby dieing is bad I'm going to fight against them to show them they are wrong. Please if you haven't read my petition please do so it has more info on it. Palivizumab is only recommended for the short term prevention—not treatment—of RSV disease in certain high-risk groups:

  • Infants and children younger than 2 years of age with chronic lung disease (CLD) who have required medical therapy (supplemental oxygen, bronchodilator, diuretic or corticosteroid therapy) for CLD within 6 months before the anticipated start of the RSV season.
  • Infants born at 32 weeks’ gestation or earlier—may benefit even if they do not have CLD.
  • Some infants between 32 and 35 weeks’ gestation may benefit when 2 or more of the following risk factors are present: child care attendance, school-aged siblings, exposure to environmental air pollutants, congenital abnormalities of the airways, or severe neuromuscular disease.
  • Children who are 24 months or younger with hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease (CHD).

Does he have Congential Heart Disease?  Otherwise, I can see why he doesn't fit the criteria for for the vaccine. What does his pediatrician and cardiologist say? Sorry. Ins companies are horrid to work with :(

Yes he does have congenital heart disease. The drs tried to appeal the letter but they still denied him. He was 34 weeks premature. Have you read the petition it has more info.

This is what you have on that page:

My son has SVT ( super ventricular tachycardia)and WPW(wolf parkinson white) they are defects of the heart and if born with it its congenital.

They may have a list of what they consider to be congenital defects that allow that vaccine. Did you call them to find out who can get it and what they consider to be qualifying defects?

Perhaps the wording is off by the pediatrician or the cardiologist.
