I don't want to mutilate my son!

My pediatrician is pushing for me to circumcise the baby when he's born. My husband is circumcised, too, and he wants to have the baby circumcised for the same reason.

I don't want to do it! I don't want to mutilate my son just to "match" his father.

What do you think? Should I circumcise him or not?

I'd leave that decision up to my husband.

Un circumcised can be very hard to keep clean. And think about this, when he is older and has to get undressed in the locker room, he will be very self conscience. All boys are. Will he wish then that you had done this now? You knows but maybe. Talk to your husband about all of that.

I left it up to my husband since he's the one with a penis

My son is circumsized.  The issue of cleanliness and risk of bacterial/fungal infections sealed the deal for us.

And i say don't do it. Baby boys die every year as a direct result of.being circumcised

Only you can make the decision for your son. I made mine for all 3, they are all the way they were born. It just fell into place like that. DS1 was born in Europe, no circumsicion there as long as there is no medical need for it. So DS2 and DS3 aren't either, so that they aren't jealous of each other.

It is your and your husbands decison. By the way though, it is not mutilating.

My son is not circ'd but I don't see it as mutilation. I'd do some research and speak with your husband about it.
