This.  Kinda hard to give suggestions without an idea of what you like to read.

Oh too easy.

Sci-fi/Fantasy
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.  (Wizard in modern day Chicago.  13 or 14 books so far)
The Anita Blake Series by Laruell K. Hamilton.  (Necromancer.  Vampires are citizens, etc. 22 books, last I checked)\
Anything by John Ringo, but specically the Council Wars series (4 books so far), the March Series (4 books, it's also called the Empire of man Series) the Vorpal Blade series (3 or 4 books so far, I've lost track)
Anything by Neil Gaimen.  Specfically: Neverwhere, American Gods, Anasi Boys, Stardust, Coraline.
The Mists of Avelon by Marion Zimmer Bradley.  Also, her Darkover novels are delightful.
Legacy of Herot and Beowulf's Children by Larry Niven, Jerry Porunelle and Stephen Barnes.

Dystopian Young Adult (Some really good reads actually

Uglies series by Scott Westerfield (4 books)
Divergent series by Veronica Roth (2 books so far, 3rd comes out in October)
Partials series by Dan Wells (2 books and a short story)
Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie (3 books)
Razorland series by Ann Aguirre (2 books so far)
Unwind series by Neal Shusterman (3 books, really dark though)
Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins.  (3 books)

Horror
Lost Souls by Poppy Z Brite
Anything by Clive Barker (that guy has some issues but he writes some seriously delightful horror)
Vampire Files series by P.N. Elrod (It's like 6 books I think but you usually find them in a couple of anthologies)

Stephen King.  That's kind of a given for Horror stories.

I could go on.........

Two of my favorite books are Gift from the Sea by Ann Morrow Lindbergh and The Glass Castle by Jeanie something (can't remember her name). Also The Kiterunner and old classics like A Farewell to Arms (Hemingway).

What genre do you like?  Do you Kindle?  Check out Jamie Magree.  Look for Insight, it is the first in a series and it is free on Kindle.  If you like paranormal romance (no vampires, wearwolves, faries, fae, or anything else like that) then you will LOVE these books.  She is an amazing author.  She has a facebook.  Look for Insight Jamie Magee.

I just finished Ragged Dick by Horatio Alger, Jr.  It's an old time favorite and surely it will be passed along to my kids.
