Is 13 too young for dating?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

My daughter is 13 and a boy at school asked her out on a date but she told him she had to ask for permission. He said okay, he'd wait, and she came home to ask, but I think 13 is too young.

What age do you think is appropriate for dating?

I couldn't date until 18. I think 13 is way too young unless you tag along.

Well, here the norm (or when I grew up) was 16. MY girls won't be allowed, just as I wasn't allowed. I don't feel at 16:17 these kids are always mature enough to handle some of these situations. Just my opinion. But if it came up it would be 16-17.
Now, you have kids going out at 10 years old so. You are the mom and you know whether or your dd is mature enough to handle it. Good luck momma.

I have a 13 DS 14 DD 15 DD and we have never set an age for any of them.  They have all "dated" someone in middle school. They would go to school dances, go to the mall and come hang out at our house or at the other childs house but the parents are always actively there with them. Most of the time because my kids are all so close in age they are all friends with eachother so it was of them all as a group.
