Would you get a new babysitter if yours did THIS?

I left my 1.5yo and 3yo in the care of a sitter while I went out to a work dinner. When I got back, I noticed her hair was wet and I asked her about it. She said, "Oh! I took a shower!"

What would you do if your sitter left your kids alone while she showered?

Ummm, she wouldn't be sitting for me again. And why in the world would she think it was ok.... How old is she?

She's 17, and I thought she was a good choice, but now? I'm telling my friends who use her, too, so they're aware. She was only there for 2hrs - she couldn't wait until she was done to shower at her own house??

Maybe, depends on what my children were doing.

Eh, that would depend on how well we knew her, how long we were gone, how late it was, what the kids were doing...

Does she not have water at her own damn house? Makes me think she did SOMETHING that would require her to shower. She'd not be allowed back to my house.

She had to take a shower after having sex with her boyfriend?
It sounds sketchy...

I would certainly have sat down then and talked to her about it.

That seems a bit strange since she was only there for two hours.

I used to babysit for long hours during the summers and I took showers at their home often. I went to work so early I didn't have time in the mornings. Their kids were 5 and 8 at the time. That was never an issue with us.

Did you ask her why?

I think that's really bizarre, especially since you weren't gone all that long, and it's not like it was super late.  Maybe if you had something where she had to watch them very late, like 9-11 or 10-12, and the kids would have been asleep, and she was likely going to go to sleep as soon as she got home, then it might be more understandable.  (I'd still find it odd.)

Since I find it so strange, no, I would not use that sitter again.  She's being paid to watch the kids.  Not simply to be there in case of a fire.
