Do you let your kids watch scary movies?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

I've let my kids watch the cheesy horror stuff since they were little, so they're very familiar with Freddy and Jason (edited-for-TV versions without the sex scenes and stuff), but I only recently let them see Saw and they're teens.

How old are your kids? Do you let them watch scary movies like Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th?
What about ones with more gore and violence like Saw, or psychological horror like The Conjuring?

My 13 and 10 olds are allowed to watch horror, but not my twin three-year olds.

My rule is I watch it first. It depends on the rating, but I might let my 11yr old watch something PG 13, or even R IF it's only rated R due to blood and gore, no sex. But he's the only one I worry about. My 7 & 8 yr old's arent' there yet, and my 19yr old pretty much watches whatever she can get in to see with her college I.D. I think a good scare is fun, especially around Hallow's Eve.

My ten year old has no interest. If she did I'd decide on a case by case basis, I'm a horror fan myself so I've seen most of them and some would definitely be off limits.
