The Cafe The Cafe

If a tattoo artist did this to your child, how would you react? Edit What the mother said....

Imagine you have a daughter and it is her 18th birthday. She goes to a tattoo parlor but has no idea what she wants. The tattoo artist sees that she just wants a tattoo, but has nothing special in mind. The artist works for an hour on drawings only to have the girl flip flop several times. The artist finally says, "I don't feel comfortable putting a tattoo on you that you are not sure of. If you would still like me to do your work, I would like you to think about what you would like and come back later with an idea that you love." She was given back ALL of her deposit even though the artist spent over an hour with her trying to figure out what she wanted.

If you were her mother, you call the tattoo artist to say......what?

Edit

My friend is the tattoo artist. The mother called and screamed at her for ruining her daughter's birthday and said that she was going to report her to the Better Business Bureau. My friend said, "I am sorry that you are so upset, but I was unwilling to put a large Disney tattoo on your beautiful daughter when she was clearly more excited about simply getting a tattoo and was not crazy about the design itself."

Why would I as a parent be involved in that transaction? The artist was professional.

Um... awesome? That's exactly what it should be.
and if she doesn't have a firm idea of what she wants with a real reason, she has no business getting anything permanent.
Tell her to get her nose or tongue pierced instead.

Smart tattoo artist!  I'd be fine with it.

I wouldn't do anything. Just feel relieved that the tattoo artist had a brain.

I doubt I would call and say anything...although, I would tell my daughter that I agree fully with the artist in question. A tattoo is permanent and it should be something that has meaning to that person.
