What natural disasters are a threat where you live?

As you may have seen on the news, here in Alabama we're dealing with a nasty line of storms and tornadoes which have destroyed homes and taken lives this week.

Last night, my family and I spent an hour in our hall bath riding out a tornado warning and found out that a large tornado had passed overhead but never touched down. We're fortunate, but others aren't so lucky.

What possible natural disasters do you have to contend with in your area?

Have you had a lot of tornado watches, warnings, or touch downs this year?

Michigan. We have a slight risk for tornadoes. That's about it.

Not that I know of, at least not in my area. A few years ago we had over 130 tornado touchdowns in one summer. In one day we had around 15 of them. That was scary.

I'm in NY. We rarely have to worry about tornadoes. I guess blizzards would be the biggest NATURAL disaster?

It's good you don't have a major risk for that. Do you get a lot of snow in the winter?
