I could not believe this!!! I can't believe that police are alowed to get away with what ever they want.
My mother was brutalized by police in front of us when we were little, not to mention the fact that it was because they were looking for someone and they came to our house. My mother told them that they had the wrong house and that the person did not live there. They then asked her to open the door and step outside, it was dark and we were all in our pj's. She then asked them what was going on and told them again that our residence was not the residence of the person that they were looking for.
They asked her again to step out on the porch and when she did, both officers grabbed her, drug her down the steps, slammed her on the ground, one officer put his knee on the back of her neck while twisting her left arm upwards while the other officer had her right arm pinned down to the ground with a knee.
I just remember my mother screaming an gasping for air, we were screaming and telling the officers to get off of our mother but they just kept telling us to be quiet and go back into the house. The officers then grabbed her up and put her into the back of the car, mind you, not at any time did they ever ask her for identification. We tried calling a friend of my mothers who was a police officer because we did not know what else to do.
Finally, my older sister and I went looking for my mothers purse and found her wallet which had her drivers license and other forms of ID so that they could see that they were at the wrong house. The cops went through the wallet and looked at all of her forms of ID, they then opened the door, took the handcuffs off of her and said "Her is you wallet, you can go now".
Not one "I'm sorry that we made a mistake" or anything, the mistake from the beginning was that they never asked her for identification to verify who she was.
What a tramatic thing to go through and have your 4 young kids have to witness.

I was going to sign the petition but it switched to one about a bear. However, I feel this was a violation of a woman's rights. Pretty soon, American women will be having their breasts cut off as they do in African countries or being beheaded on the street as they did in Iraq if women do not organize and protect their rights. I know there are men out there who have said, "I can-t wait until we can walk up, put a gun in a woman's ear, and pull the trigger." I really feel crimes against women are becoming worse.
