Why do people hate disabled people so much?

Posted by   + Show Post

I have noticed that a lot of people in cyber world or in real life hate disabled people. I hear form these people that "most" disabled people are just "lazy", "faking it", "don't want to work", whiners" etc and I almost always hear that disabled people should "just get a job" or "find some sort of work".

Not every disabled person can "just get a job" or "find some sort of work".

Why do you suppose people have such a strong dislike for disabled people? Do you thi9nk it has to do with the mentality or survival of the fittest?

Because they have no heart !!! They are just idiots period . I  don't  get them either. I have a child with disability and may not be able to find a company willing to hire him when he gets older.  Now that's sad.  And for people to hate someone they don't even know . Is sad-er.

I think it because there are so many people who abuse disability.

see, but just your answer indicates that you think you have a right to decided who is "acually" disabled and tells me that you don't like disbaled people. I am just wondering why that is.

Quoting AnitaVersion2.0:

Okay, that is just ridiculous. I don't know of anyone who thinks that about ACTUALLY disabled people.

I have never heard of people talking about disabled people like that untill now. My dad was disabled and so is my mom just on different levels. I have sympathy for those people EXCEPT the people who are FAKING it!

I don't know of anybody who hates disabled people, that is ridiculous.  I certainly do not have any negative thoughts about people who are disabled.

I guess you could say Matt Roloff could be disabled on Little People Big World.  He works a (normal) job, helps to run their farm, and also runs his own business.  I guess when you see him, and see others that are not disabled as him, not working, it just makes you think.  Just making a statement here for the other side.  Just like welfare, there are people getting disablility that could have jobs, and there are plenty of people that rightfully get disability.

so criticize someone for the way they worded it?

Quoting metalmomma25:

sure it does. It not fair for her to say "acually" disabled either. How does she know who is "accually" disabled? Many people have no outward signs that they are disabled like mental illness for one or a chronic desease such as fibromyaligia.

Quoting MaddiesMommy49:

thats not fair for you to jump to conclusions. nothing about her answer indicates that she doesnt like disabled people.

People seem to think that if they can not "see" a disability then they are not "really" disabled. I have a friend that has sever PTSD and OCD and a shoulder injury. He is 100% unemployable. 100% disabled but to talk with him or see him ont he street you would never know. Many people think he is "faking it" but they did not see him before treatment or meds.

Thats it right there.

You gota see it to believe it mentality.

Thank you.

Again, your comment is ridiculous.

I don't believe that for a minute. I know no one who dislikes the disabled. Whether wheelchair bound or a disabled vet. I work with the disabled and have for many yrs. This statement is assinine.
