I'm having a c-section when I have this baby and we've decided that she will be the last one, so on the 16th, we are signing the paperwork to get a tubal.
I just had a few questions..
1. How long did it take for them to do it?
2. Did you have to be knocked out or did they do it with the spinal block?
3. Do you regret it?
4. Were your periods lighter or heavier, longer or shorter.
Sorry, I know that last question is really personal, but I am trying to gain some knowledge from other people's experiences.
Thanks!!
1. How long did it take for them to do it? Dont remember exactly but not long
2. Did you have to be knocked out or did they do it with the spinal block? Had to be knocked out
3. Do you regret it? NOPE!!!
4. Were your periods lighter or heavier, longer or shorter. A little longer but well worth it. I used to have a 3 day cycle now its 4 days.

1. How long did it take for them to do it? 30 to 45 minutes
2. Did you have to be knocked out or did they do it with the spinal block? Knocked out
3. Do you regret it? YES YES YES
4. Were your periods lighter or heavier, longer or shorter. Heavier and longer and I have a lot of female problems now. Never had a problem before. Dr said part of my problems are from the tubal. Dh has even said that had he know it was going to cause me so many problems later on he would have gotten fixed instead.
1. How long did it take for them to do it? I don't know. It was done while I was still open after DS's c-section.
2. Did you have to be knocked out or did they do it with the spinal block? spinal
3. Do you regret it? Yes, but because of the side effects. I do not want anymore kids ever.
4. Were your periods lighter or heavier, longer or shorter. My periods are much worse. For a while I was having periods that would last as much as 22 days. I am now on I think my 6th different type of birth control period to try to control them. My periods last 14 days with one week PMS that is absolute misery. (Yes, that's about one week per month where I'm not totally crazy.) I go to see my doctor again on the 13th to let him know how this is going.
1. How long did it take for them to do it? I think it took an hour or so if that. When my daughter was born I didn't get to have my epidural and she was born at 5pm on the dot so my doctor said we'd just do it in the am.
2. Did you have to be knocked out or did they do it with the spinal block? They gave me the option, but since I'd just had a baby and i tend to react badly to being knocked out I opted for just the spinal. So I was awake. they do strap your arms down and then the bed was tilted so that my feet were higher than my head. It was a strange feeling, I could feel the insides of my legs but couldn't move them.
3. Do you regret it? No. We had two girls, the last being a super surprise so we were done. They will try to talk you out of it to be sure that you really want it. Here you have to sign a form which they fax to the hospital but you have to have your copy with you otherwise they wont do it even if they have their copy on file.
4. Were your periods lighter or heavier, longer or shorter. I haven't notice a change cause I don't get mine often enough to track it.

Mine took about 30 minutes to do. I did not have mine done during my c-section, I had them done while have surgery for an ectopic pregnancy, so the lenght of time could be different. Since I was having emergency surgery, I was knocked out. I regret it only because of my periods. They are much heavier, they last 3 to 4 days longer, and my period cramps are extremely painful.

1. How long did it take for them to do it?
To be honest, I don't remember!
2. Did you have to be knocked out or did they do it with the spinal block?
It was during my c/s and I had a spinal block.
3. Do you regret it?
Sometimes I do. But I know that we can't afford any more children. But, I wish I would've gotten Mirena instead..
4. Were your periods lighter or heavier, longer or shorter.
Heavier, definitely. My periods are a bit longer, not too bad.

HI,
I have a tubal 7years ago a few hours after the birth of our 4th. I knew I was so done and scheduled it the same day so I didnt have to come back. They put you to sleep, no spinal tap, just anesthsia. It was so quick! Recovery was fairly easy, I remember thinking that is was good I got through all the healing at once. My periods havent changed any. I dont regret it. We have 4 and I had hard pregnancies the last two. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask anything else.

My tubal was done as soon as my son was born by c-section. They did it before I was sewn up. I don't think it took more than 10 min. Hard to tell.
I don't regret it. I was 40 when my son was born and he is my third ( 2 older girls 9 and 6 at the time) I knew he should be my last.
My periods have been basically the same.
Hope this helps.

1. How long did it take for them to do it? Really not sure...sorry
2. Did you have to be knocked out or did they do it with the spinal block? I had to be knocked out...
3. Do you regret it? NO! lol
4. Were your periods lighter or heavier, longer or shorter. Mine are lighter and a little shorter...the first day I'm in a lot of pain though, but before I had any kids my first day was really painful so I guess I just went back to that...overall I'm really glad that I had it done! Good luck to you!!
I got mine done shortly after having my daughter VBAC (vag. birth after cesarean). I 100% do NOT regret it. I was the type of person that didn't react well to birth control, and worried constantly that my period wouldn't come and "Oh, Gods, am I pregnant AGAIN?" After my tubes were done, I noticed a big change in the intimacy factor... I'm now able to relax and not worry about the potential consequences. My period did change, it became heavier by quite a bit, but not any longer. As a matter of fact, I somehow shaved off a day. My cramps are a bit worse, but still manageable. I was out of the hospital the same night I had it done and have felt nothing but relief since. Everyone's body is different... I wonder if there's some kind of indication based on past medical history how your body would react to it?
