  •  well my husband is in the air force so it really isnt to bad for us right now. although i have noticed it affecting like the cost of things. anyway the company my mother works for is haveing a hard time and 2 time this year she has been forced to take a week (so 2 weeks total) unpaid leave. kinda sucks but i guess atleast she still has a job. right now she is looking for a new one but it is hard to find one right now

  • My landlord dropped $300 off of my rent after I told him that we couldn't afford this house anymore. In the last year between the 2 of us we've lost about $12,000 in income. Vacation? WTF is that. My parents want to give us their house so retire completely and become "snowbirds", but we've been not wanting to do that for the past 4 years or so.... I don't like that side of town, the schools over there COMPLETELY SUCK ASS! and the overall area sucks, though they are in a good neighborhood.... we may just have to suck it up and do it. I don't even want to think about it. On the good side, our living expenses would literally be 1/4 of what we pay out right now, I'd be able to afford 2 new cars, and fix and upgrade the Jeep, ..... maybe we need to rethink this..... Right now we are in the hole BIG TIME!

  • We live under the poverty level.  We've really had to cut back on some things.  I can't remember the last time I brought home a new movie, or a new toy for my kids.  Prolly not since my oldest's birthday in April.

We're just tightening the belt.  Hopefully I'll be heading back to school this fall, as long as my husband doesn't get laid off from his job.

  • It wasn't until DH was laid off yesterday. He was the only one is the house working. He is also union so it is not like he can just go take any job. A minimum wage job would never cover our mortgage let alone the other bills.

  • It is definitely effecting us. My SO is having a hard time finding work, and I have taken a 14.46% paycut. We live out of town and gas has risen to $3.20 here so we must limit the amount of trips we take. The cost of everything seems to rise between each paycheck. Oh, and I probably won't be receiving the normal financial aid once school starts in the fall. I think that is about all...

  • Or those who don't qualify.

And I heard that the 9.5% number doesn't include those people whose unemployment benefits have run out but they still don't have a job (like my BIL) so I think the overall job situation is even worse than what's  being reported.

The news says it's going to hit 10% next month. I hope it does get better for anyone who is struggling.

    Quoting prd2b_calledmom:

i think that is the only way its really effected us, SO got laid off due to the economy. but  hes working with his dad now, making more $ then he was before. so other then that we still do everything we did before.

    Quoting Ann7227:

It's not . But after seeing that unemployment is 9.5% that's scary.

  • At first it hit us hard when hubby got laid off but he has a better job now and went back to school and I have started back to school for my bachelors degree.  It seems that we have more money now then we did before.  In fact we are buying a house in the next couple weeks.

  • DH is a union carpenter and has been for 6 and a half years.  This year already he has been laid off for 18 weeks off and on.  The stress and anxiety are overwhelming.  Luckily we have yet to fall behind but we will NEVER get ahead like this and our credit card debt (something I swore would never happen but had not other choice) is really stacking up.

  • The economy has effected me and my family very  little. We we're barely making it before it started to take a dive. We are starting to really sit down and look at our budget and trying our best to consolidate where we can in our bills. My Hubby however did have to take a 10$ pay cut with the job he is doing now,but I'm thanful he has a job.We own our own home so no mortage or rent to pay just the usual household expenses eg.property taxes, home insurance and the utilities. I reciaeve foodstamps and medicaid for me and the kids if it wasn't for that we'd be worse off. I clip coupons and buy gentric and use the buy1 get 1 free offers. We're trying to save up money to fix the pickup I had before we got married, but it seems when we start to  get the money wham a unexcepted bill creeps in.

  • I work in a supermarket part time and my hours were cut as people are not out there shopping like they used to.  Due to loss of home, job ...etc/   My husband works in a retail store full time.  His salary is what keeps us afloat.
