Anyone else's baby born with teeth? *piog*

My 5 year old little girl was born with her 2 bottom front teeth already in. They were in pretty far I could feel the sharp points on both teeth. She was also born 8 weeks early, I can imagine how big they would have been if she had been full term. I have just never met anyone who was either born or had kids born with teeth. The dr.'s in the NICU didn't even know how to react to a 32 week preemie having 2 teeth. Anyone else?

I've never heard of that.  Did all her teeth come in early?  How many teeth did she have when she was 1?

I could feel the edges of my sons teeth when he was born but they didn't start actually coming through until he was 4 months old had all of his teeth in well before his 1st Birthday.

A lady I worked for said her son was born with a bottom tooth. I hear if they're born with teeth they will be very smart (personaly i think its an old wives tale, kids are smart based on how much interaction with parents and how well the parents teach them things). Its not very common, but it does happen....of course, both my kids didn't get their first couple of teeth until they were 16 months old. My 19 month old only has 4 teeth.

I've only known one person who said their baby was born with teeth.  She also said her little girl already had long hair (like long enough to cover her face when she was born) and long fingernails too.

i've seen newborns with a head full of hair, enough to put into a ponytail, but they are mostly hispanic babies with beautiful thick black hair *jealous*. Both mine were bald lol. Mine have always had long fingernails though, even born with them.

My son had long hair when he was born as well, everyone always thought he was a little girl (I mean little boys just can't possibly have alot of hair when they are boy!! eye rolling) it was down his neck , same with the nails, I was cutting his nails not long after he was born.

No, but it happens more than you would think.  Typically the doctors take them out though.  And they usually get baby teeth in still, and adult teeth.

Um what?  They ARE the baby teeth I've never heard of doctors removing them.

No they don't remove them. The dr.'s in the NICU brought that up, but I called 3 pedatric dentists and they all said that no they should not be pulled. They are her baby teeth they just came in early. Years ago they thought the teeth would fall out and the babies could swallow them but they don't. They call the "milk teeth", have no idea why. They haven't given her any problems. It is weird though those 2 teeth are smaller than all the rest. And she has a problem with the enamel on her teeth because of it, but they said that when her adult teeth come in it won't be a problem.

She didn't have long hair. She had hardly any hair until she was close to 2. She did have long nails though. They had to cut her nails in the NICU a couple of times because she would scratch herself. Because she was born so early she had a problem learning how to bottle feed, so they feed her with a tube in her tummy. The tube went in through her mouth, and her little teeth almost poked a hole in the tube. Because they were pretty damn sharp.
