Happy 4th! I wished mine was going better. I need to know what you think and your opinion on this situation...I am a teacher at a private school and my daughter also attends there as well. I get a great discount for her because I teach there and I pay monthly. So today I get an email from the owner saying that my daughter will not be attending there as of monday. I was on vacation for 2 weeks in June and have not payed yet. But overall am very good at paying. Also I have a pretend supervisor who does not know how to help run a business. I think she said something to the owner about me. Ohh and also I got yelled at for throwing away expired tortilla shells on Friday by the Co-owner. When I asked the supervisor, she had no clue of what to do just like always. So I had to take matters into my own hand. So with this being said I need some advise. Do you think it's because of the missed payment or because of something deeper? Need your opinion..

  • so...are you being fired from the job too or are they just saying that your child can't come anymore?  is this a real school or a daycare?  i guess if i were in this situation i would be replying to the owner to get more information on the situation...seems to me that if you are employed there but have been on a vacation for 2 weeks that they would know that the tuition is coming...sounds to me as if there is more than that...

  • It almost sounds like they are finding reasons to mess with you.

  • A lot of private children's schools are having big economic problems right now.  I don't think it's so much about your late payment.  So many of these schools are trying to discretely down size and close.  Or some of the schools are trying to merge with other private schools.

It's a totally big mess, confusion, and utter chaos.

It's a private school and I don't think it's me getting fired. I think you maybe right.

  • In reference to the missing payments I know private schools (and most any private settings like that) expect payment when it's due regardless of circumstances and are all within their own power to not allow that person to attend. The private school my friends daughter attends if you are as little as a day late with payment you can be asked to leave the school and they will do it.

  • Maybe I am missing something here but what about the child? How do you explain to a child that in just a couple of days she will not be attending her regular school with her friends and everything that is familiar to her?

I would find a way to catch up this payment and try to keep the child there for now but I would seriously consider why I chose to send my child to a school where no one cares about her emotional well being. It is just wrong to rip everything the child knows out from under her with no notice.

it isn't that the school doesn't care about the childs wellbeing, it's a private school and when a parent sends their kid to a private school they do so knowing that they will expect payment on time just like anything else. It's no different than a daycare than any other setting where payment is to be made; payment is expected when it's expected and if it isn't paid there are consequences and those consequences are the child is no longer allowed to attend. It is the parents responsibility , not the schools. I don't see how that makes the school uncaring towards the childs emotional well being.

  • My thoughts exactly.

Also, has it occurred to anyone else that this was sent via EMAIL?  What ever happened to clear communication? Seriously that is what's wrong in today's society. I mean, you are posting a questions to anonymous people about your job because you have no idea what their intentions are? That's just crazy. I would be making a phone cal and asking questions instead of guessing....good luck.
