My son is 3 and dosent like loud noise. I was debating wether or not to bring him to fire works tonight. Its about 20mins away. I am just worried he will get scared an we drove ll the way there and will have to come back home. I live in a condo and i am sure someone here will lite them off either tonight or tomorrow. I was thinking about mabye just letting him watch them here first and sees what happens. I just feel bad he has never been to fireworks either. I am not a huge fan of them either. What age did ur kids go to fireworks the first time and should i bother trying to bring him?

I wouldn't bring him.  I didn't take my kids until they were much older.

maybe try earmuffs or cover his ears so the noise is not so loud. he might like the colors of them.

I agree, try the ear muffs. I took my DD to fireworks at age 1, and she was just mesmerized by the brightness. Your son may really love them.

If you already know that he doesn't like loud noises.

If you are already pretty sure that he would not have a good time.

Then why take him.........

My son did not like fireworks as a kid..  I think even now (he's in his 20's) he could care less about fireworks..

Some people dig fireworks. Some don't.

If I were you. I would wait until your LO was a little older. Then take him and see how he likes fireworks. If someone sets of a few fireworks around the condo, then let him check those out.. It will give a you little bit of a gauge on how he would/will handle a large fireworks display.

Really at 3..He's not missing anything.  He will not remember when he's 10, or 20 what he did or didn't do at 3 years of age...  So don't feel like you are keeping him from missing out on something if you don't take him...

Have a happy 4th.

Hey, my son was the same way with loud things. We thought the same thing about the fireworks, took him anyway,  he saw what the where, we made a big deal out of it (good deal) you know what everybody says when they go in the air. Try that with your son, try not to site (park) close to them.Hope you guys enjoy.

depending on where your fireworks are located, you can watch them from a distance and not be right close up so there wont be hardly any noise. We went to the mall last year with our 8 month old and our 1 year old and parked about a mile away from where the fireworks were actually going off, all the noise was a soft "boom". Wasnt loud at all and our 1 year old loved sitting on top of the car watching them. Also, if you cant get far enough away but still be able to see them, you can watch them on t.v. tonight. Shows on ABC and whatnot will have a good display. I wish I could take mine but we cant go anywhere =(

My first DD didn't go to her 1st b/x she was only 3 months old. She did go to her second though and my second DD went to her 2nd and she was 23 months old.

I would try the ear muffs. And still go. Most children love bright lights and such so it is a good possibility that he will love them.

NBC is airing the Macy's 28th annual fireworks spectacular at 9:00 p.m. I believe.
