c-section/labor PIOG EDITED in 6th reply

I had a c-section with Brayden who is 10 months old. DH and I are not sure when we're gonna try again but we know it won't be until after Brayden turns 1 year. I can't have a v-bac because our hospital isn't equiped for that and the closest one it over an hour away. But my question is: Could I go into labor naturally on my own and then go to the hospital for another c-section?

***This isn't a c-section vs vbac post so please don't tell me to just have a vbac***

Thanks!

I would suppose it would depend on the situation and your ob. I had a friend who was scheduled for her repeat section and baby didn't agree with the plan. She went into labor and they did the section- not a problem for anyone.

I know here they schedule the repeat c/s for 39 weeks exactly.... if I had gone into labor, they would have done it sooner... as it was, Molly went into distress 2 days before the C/S date and they did an Emergency C/S asap..... but they do TRY and avoid labor here...

I'm having a planned c-section because of the hospital also not being equipped but also because I dont want to risk going through the same problems I had the first time. I wont go into that but the hospital I go to is 45min away and I chose it anyways because the hospital here in town is terrible. I was told anyways that the dr would have to stop labor if it happened.

Technically yes you could.  However, your doc will most likely schedule a c/sec prior to labor having a chance  to start.  They usually want to wait until you are in your 38th week.  However, my DD tried to come out earlier (she was my 2nd c/sec for same reason as you potentially) and so my doc bumped my surgery up.  And by the way, FYI, the second one is a breeze for most women compared to the first.  I thought my doc was some kind of saint, as I had a different doc for the second one, and he informed me it was nothing he had done, it's just better after the first one.

I am going to be asking my OB next week... As this is a huge question on my mind. Since I am going to be having another C-section. And I am 29 weeks pregnant, and I went 3 weeks early with my last one..

Ok so I guess what I'm asking is would it be safe for me and my unborn baby to go into labor naturally and then go to the hospital

Why wouldn't it be?

yeah if you are a scheduled section and go into labor on your own you just go to the hospital and they section you!

Not sure if this helps....I am the mom of 2 girls...ages 8 and 5. My oldest daughter, Lexie was born by emergency c-section. My baby, Kayleigh was born via c-section on February 16, 2004...I was due March 16th...c-section was scheduled for March 10th and on February 14, 2004..my water broke. Yes, I got an ear full from my doctor when I showed up at the hospital in labor on Monday the 16th at 7 am because I didn't go to the hospital when my water broke. But, I didn't want to go to the hospital on Valentine's day or the fact it was a Saturday...yet, I monitored her making sure she was kicking and moving and on Monday the 16th, I actually went into labor naturally and she was born at 8:47 am on the 16th via c-section. So yes, you can go into labor naturally and still have a c-section.
