my hubby isnt circumsized, and I asked him...he said at that age, you can start like once a week...just pull back the skin and clean it...and he said start showing them how when they get into toddler yrs, so its something that becomes normal for them.
Hope this helps |

teh foreskin will retract on its own no Need to do anything to it until your child does it! it usally will start to retract by age 4-5 on its own.
If you retract it even just a little bit it can cause problems. So basically to answer your question...you wont pull the skin back to clean until your son does it himself. |

Okay my son isn't circumsized either. Now when I asked his ped when he was around 2 the same question he also told me that it will do it on its own and not to try and do it.
Then I asked my dad because my brother isn't circumsized either. He said to try next time I bath my son if there is alot of resitance then wait longer to try. My son is 5 nearly 6 and he has been cleaning his for a few years now I would say around 2 1/2 - 3 Just don't force anything use your son as a guide line if you try and it seems to be hurting him then its not time yet. Alot of doctors say alot of different things I would honstly just go by your son's guideline that's what I did with my son. And everything worked out good with him. |

DONT RETRACT HIS SKIN!!!!!!!
Sorry I get a little upset about this....the only person who should retract his skin is HIM.....and it may not even happen until puberty and that is perfectly normal.... There are a few natural processes that help loosen up his skin......ballooning, which is his pee pee filling up like a balloon as he pees....NORMAL...and him playing with it as he gets older.....NORMAL TOO! The forskin is ATTACHED and when people forciblly retract the skin it tears underneath....then bacteria can get in and THAT is what causes problems you hear people sooo often talk about. Wash it like a finger......not hard at all....my boy is 5 and I have never bothered his forskin at all.....and I wont..... Please email me with more questions if you want....I feel like I know a lot about this topic....I researched it to death when we decided not for circ' our son.... |

I am a brit, in the UK they only circumsize for religious reasons or if there is some kind of problem, so when I had my son here in the USA I thought it was a bit weird that it was even considered, no I am not going to have my son's foreskin chopped off, why would I do that, and guess what, nobody could really tell my why I should, he is 18 and has never had a problem.
My pediatrician was not experienced with foreskins as most of her patients did not have them, she told me to stretch it back to clean his little thingy, but I knew better, you can actually cause tearing and scaring that will effect it's stretchyness, so I told her not to and that I was not going to either. Leave it alone, nature made this part of his body for a reason, I will not chop it off and I will not mess with it. I hear some people say they circumsized their sons so they looked like their dad, well little boys don't look much like their dad anyway, circumsized or not, and big boys don't usually check out their dad's willy too much...............do they?!!!! I think this is a silly reason. My brother, not circumsized, has a friend who was circumsized after some kind of accident and he hates being circumsized, He said that his willy is less sensitive now. The USA is the only country that does this routinely at birth, I don't think there are problems in other countries with willies falling off or anything if not circumsized, I found out that years ago in the war when soldiers were in trenches and didn't shower for weeks and their undies were full of dirt and sand, they got infections, so they decided to circumsize soldiers before they went off to war to prevent this. It became tradition. So unless your son is going to be sitting in trenches, not showering for weeks or changing his undies, you should be OK leaving him intact. If you saw a baby being circumsized you would be horrified, it hurts like heck and it is sore afterwards too, they scream their little heads off, think about it before you chop it off. |
