I saw something about it but I didn't find out what it is. Any ideas?

  • I believe it is when one child in the neiborhood has chicken pox so you intentionally get kids together to expose them to the virus so that they do not get it later in life when it is more dangerous. We have a varicella vaccine now, so that practice is pretty outdated since the vaccine is req for school.

  • Thanks. That's a strange idea these days. I remember my parents making us play with this little girl who had it for that reason I was not happy. We didn't catch it though. I assume it was because, uhhhhh we were already vaccinated. UGHH, parents.

  • I plan to find one when my ds is a little older so I can expose him because we are a nonvax family.

  • Yup my mom had one for my cousins, and I when we were in elementary school. I won't say it was fun, but it was nice to be able to play when I had pox.

  • They were very common 20 years+ ago, but it is when one child that has the chicken pox is invited over and there are multiple children that have never had it. They will share food, pacifiers, bottles, anything to share the germs. Parents thought it would be best if the child got the virus sooner rather than later. So they would intenionally get their child sick with the chicken pox.

  • Well I guess it would make sense in this situation.

  • It's a super bad idea is what it is!!!!

I'm a 24 year old, *single* mom, to a 13 month old princess, and a prince on the way. I'm 32 weeks pregnant, I've had previa, abruption, gall bladder surgery, kidney stones, preterm labor and have been passing out, but this little boy is worth it all. I've been through postpartum depression, domestic violence, my parents divorce, losing my job & becoming poor, losing my car, and my license, and becoming a single mom... all in the last year and I'm still glad to be here!!

I *LOVE* my kids more than anything else on this planet!
