  • The only thing I know about it is that it gives you severe poops... I would probably never try it personally, but if you're desperate enough... here's a bump.

  • It makes you poop which in turn makes your stomach contract and puts you into labor. I did it 5 days after DD was due. She was born 9 hours later. It makes some people poop a lot. I only did once about 2 hours after I drank it. IF you do drink with soda. 4 oz soda 2 oz castor oil I believe.

Mommy to human girl Ella born 10-14-06, my big beautiful brown eyed girl...mommy to 3 doggie furbabies Molly (10), Charley (16) and Cooper (2) and foster mommy to many furbabies. And caretaker, mentor and friend to the wonderful children in my in home daycare!

I  do not have to answer the question 'Why do you  have so many animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get..

  • I heard its nasty.

Try to eat really spicy foods.  I read somewhere that an upset stomach can make you go into labor. I read that (a couple of months) after I ate something that usually doesn't mess up my stomach and it did when I was 37 1/2 weeks along and I went into labor at 4 am the next day. My DD hadn't dropped yet and my water broke. I was only 1 cm dilated and they had to give me meds and then manually open me up a little.

  • I was overdue with my son so I thought I would try castor oil too.  NEVER AGAIN!

I had severe cramps which did not dilate me, and awful loose bowel movements.  I still did not have him until 5 days later.

I also had meconium in my placental fluid when my water broke.  As soon as he was born they had to rush him to suction out his lungs and make sure he didn't inhale any.  My husband didn't get to cut the cord.  I was told that castor oil can cause meconium which can be harmful.

With both my pregnancies, I ate a Carrabas the night before giving birth.  I swear by Carrabas!

    Im from WI whats Carrabas??
Thats why I put it back. I never did it before, but both my kids pooped b4 they were born and they had to be rushed away quick, so I didnt want to risk that again.

  •  I started to use it years ago with my first child but then the doc told me a story that stopped me short. You know babies have a "bowl movement" some time after birth. Well the doc told me about a woman taking castor oil and it made the baby have it's bowl movement in utero and it choked and died on it.  I decided to wait. It would be very rare but it was not taking a chance with my baby.

OMG THAT IS SO SCARY!!!! WELL, The lil thought that crossed my mind about it is definately GONE NOW!!! If I knew the baby wouldnt do that I would probably try it, but thats why Im so scared cuz I heard that babies can pass bowel movements in utero and I had that happen with both my kids since they were passed due an it was scary!! Thats why I dont want him to stay in pass his EDD cuz I really dont want that to happen again!
