Hi Mamas! I am curious as to how many Moms vaccinate their children and how many don't.  I am posting this with a poll. Feel free to reply with your reasons if you like.

My son is 5 yrs old and needs his 4 yr shots in order to be caught up for school. From what I understand at 4 yrs old the child gets the Most shots at a time...some containing mercury which is suspect in Autism.

Im on the fence...I'm not sure about this and would like some advice of other Moms. This is not intended for debate...only to get feedback.

Thanks Mamas!

  • Me too!! I would rather have that small chance of something going wrong, then the greater chance of my child getting something I could have protected them from. I have alot of friends that travel back and forth to mexico, and I am not chancing it, also have grandparents that travel the world!

  • As far as I know, the 4 year set is just boosters.  Only like 80 or 90% of kids take to the first round of MMR, so they do the second round just to catch that other 10-20%.  Ask if you can have titres checked instead, if your child already has immunity built up, they don't need the booster and the doc should sign off that they are immune.

Any others they do at that age are probably not required by the school (I'm thinking maybe Hep A?  I don't know what else they would do).

  • I recommend spending $50 and having your little ones blood taken for titers. Je may not even need boosters, so why take the chance.

also, there are vaccine exemptions for EVERY state if you would feel more comfortable not doing the shots at all. See your states laws and exemptions at www.NVIC.org

I have TONS of information on reasons I don't vaccinate. Message me if you are interested- I would be happy to help educate you on both sides of the issue so that you are able to make the decision that is best for your child. :)

  •  my daughter has autism and i can tell u its not from the shots. u can tell from birth she was different. they have discovered the gene that is linked to autism so u may want to research the gene and see if that runs in ur family. they have proven its not linked to the shots, also i would chance a child with autism over a deadly desease any day

My daughter has autism but she can laugh, cry, and love just like yours. she may never dress herself but she can go to college and become a dr.  she may never make friends her own age but shes my friend for life. and please if u ever get the chance to meet my daughter, stop looking at her like shes a brat, she cant help her stairs or attitudes u can help urs. get to close u might get bit but it wont give u autism. do yourself a favor look it up.

  • I thought they took the mercury out of vaccines?

I vax- for many (what I think are) good reasons- however, those who don't vax have valid concerns and reasons as well- talk with your doctor (or a few doctors even) about your concerns and fears, and find out what your alternatives may be regarding the vaccines. Do what you think is best- blessings to you and yours.

  •  OOps, I didn't see that you had already posted the NVIC.org :)  Have you ever seen the videos that I posted?  THey are good.   And to the poster that said Autism did not cause her childs autism, that may be true BUT is does cause it in many, many children.  I am related to one of the vaccine autism casualties.
