Hi ladies,

I am a new truckers wife. My dh graduated from his trucker's program on Friday and recieved his CDL the same day.  He leaves this afternoon to go to orientation at a company and will start that tomorrow. Hopefully he ends up getting hired through them! He was medically discharged from the military 2 years ago, and has had trouble finding a good paying civilian job. He loves driving, so his uncle, who has been a driver for over 20 years, suggested it, along with me and his mother, so he decided to go for it. He loved doing it in school, so Im assuming he will love it even more when he is on his own. He is hoping after he gets a year or two experiance, he will be able to start working somewhere more local so he is home more. I think the fact we dealt with military life will help when he is gone for a couple weeks at a time. We have two little boys, 4 and 2, and as of right now, I am a stay at home mom. I quit my job about 3 weeks ago since I was working nights and wont be able to do that with him gone. I am in school full time, with plans to go onto law school, and I am hoping I will be able to find something that will work with a day care schedule. Any advice about anything and everything to a new truckers wife?

Hello and welcome to the group...First off let me say the #1 thing to have is patience...It is going to be hard not gonna lie to you...He will be gone quite a bit...Having the military background does help...I too come from a military family so when my husband went back to driving it wasn't so bad on us...I am a stay at home mommy also ...Always cherish the time you guys do have when he is home...If you have any questions or need any help please do not hesitate to ask and I will be happy to assist you in any way I can...
