Truck parking....or lack there of.....

About a week or so ago my bf was in Pa delivering at a DC real late at night. His 11 was almost up and figured he could go and try to deliver it early. He was able to deliver it early, and asked if they had truck parking there and of course they didn't. so he left. The road the DC is on is a 2 lane road with a few cut outs for trucks. He went looking for a place to crash for 10 hours but every spot was taken. So up the road he goes again, this time finding a larger cut out that had a few truck in it so he decides to stop. Well, morning came he got up went up in the cab and there on his windshield was a parking ticket. Time stamped 10 minutes before he got up. No cop banged on his truck no nothing. He turns his CB on and hears that every truck that was in that cut out got ticketed as well. Here is my complaint....truck drivers are depended on so much to get freight from point A to point B, ON TIME that sometimes they are forced to park in spots that are not safe, not a "normal" parking spot or worse yet, an off ramp. If companies want their stuff so bad why cant they let the drivers that are delivering the freight park in their lots?? DOT dont want drivers tired, so they restrict their driving times, I understand that. But in order for them drivers to get the rest required, why arent more spots made for them?

  • because people just do not see it as their problem. it  is the driver problem.   Sorry  hubs got a ticket.

  • I was actually hoping I would see a post like this... My DH was down in Amarillo TX last night and stopped at a Super 8 Motel that had a big gravel lot to park... Well he had run all day and was exhausted so went to bed around midnight... At 2 am I get a text from him asking if I was still up and he called when I told him yes... Him and 10 other trucks got kicked out the lot, had the cops called on them when they refused to leave, because the lot was for "paying patrons" as the motel manager told them... It was not posted anywhere about no truck parking... So this asshole sends 10 trucks out on the road at 2 am when they weren't hurting for parking... DH didn't get parked until 5 am and he actually ended up having to stop at an empty lot and only stopped cause there were already 4 or 5 trucks parked there ... Now when he called me at 2 I could tell that he was tired cause he was in his mood that he gets in (talks a lot!!) and he told me he was seeing double... I know I'm still new to all this but that just doesn't seem right to me... Does this shit happen often?? DH is fed up with it and is looking for a job that will allow him to be home every night... He is hoping to get stopped at a scale house and get a ticket cause of his logs cause he plans to send the ticket to TX to pay since they didn't have anywhere for him to get the rest that he needed and was required to take... People are just idiots when it comes to truckers... Anyone wanna go on and idiot kicking fest??
