My son is now 11 and my daughter is 3, eight years difference and it seems like I had to learn from scratch again. It's been a roller coaster ride let me tell you, having children so far apart is in some ways good because you don't have two butts to change and you don't have to cater to two small children. The worst for me about the age difference is that they are so far apart and have nothing in common, they like two different things and are into two different things. But another good thing is is that my son watches out for his little sister and he will at some time play what she wants to play and he will let her play with him and his friends. So to say they are close for now but what the future holds I can only assume and will have to wait to see how it plays out.

I have three kids and they are all spaced apart. My boys Jordon and Jesse are 15 and 8 and the girl is 2. It is like starting all over again. Looking back I am still glad I didn't have to deal with diapers on two at the same time, but the age difference does have some challenges when the oldest has friends over and the others just want to be with their older brother.

I have both. My oldest 2 are 20 months apart. Then my oldest is about 7 1/2 years older than the baby & my middle chld is 6 years older than the baby. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I am the oldest of 4, being 9 years older than the youngest (twins). We get along great now. We did not fight much growing up because there was nothing to fight about. I did miss alot of their younger years by being so much older & on my own though.

I know what you mean... my two are 9 years and 10 months old and while they are also very close, they obviously have/will have different interests. Right now we do have lots of family time together but I also try make sure each one has individual attention as well. I think right now the hardest part of the age gap for us is my older son not understanding that his little brother isn't quite ready for the same things/games/toys/etc that he likes... so many times during the day I'll hear from him "I can't wait for J to be closer to my age! Then we can do this and this and this together..." It's sweet and melts my heart to hear him say this but lol he doesn't seem to understand that by the time the baby is closer to his age now, he will be a lot older and will probably have completely different interests by then.
