Home Decor and So Much More!

Here is my delema. My living room needs an accent color. I would like a green... Hubby wants Dark red or a blue of some sort. If I dont get green I want a nice rich chocolate. I need to know your opinion.. I am retarted when it comes to picking colors. HELP! ! ! (we are having to move into the home I owned with my prior hubby who died. I need to change something so it does not feel the same, but cant afford much so paint is cheap)
....................................................................Here are my tile floors.
My green is the second from the right.
Here is the room. Ceiling is cream; trim is white. Redish brick and light pine top the Firplace. I have a huge gold framed mirror that I will hang on top.....
Thanks for the advise! Rhoda

by mommybgood on Sep. 6, 2008 at 9:43 PMMy gut reaction is that the green is too yellow...the peach tones in the tile and the red brick would lend itself more too a cool toned green.....HAVING SAID THIS, I AM THE WORST AT CHOOSING GREENS!!!! I went through 6, yes 6!! greens before I found the one...granted, I didn't paint the room 6 times, but had six swatches on my wall.. I would HIGHLY reccomend trying a large square before you decide..it really helps to see it on the wall, and at different times of day.:) As for the mantle, just this week I sanded down and restained ours....it was 1950s golden oak, and I used a minwax stain called ebony...turned out really well, better, in fact, than I expected...you might consider staining yours. Keep us posted! Shelly |

by 6callmemom on Sep. 6, 2008 at 9:58 PMDark wood tones are what I am wanting. I have the whole kitchen and both bathrooms to change but that will be another post. Any other colors you might suggest? |

by caham on Sep. 6, 2008 at 11:10 PMI think the color you selected is PERFECT!!! I was going to suggest an olive, slightly brown green and that is what you have shown on the color swatch. This looks similar to what my hubby has in his office and what I chose for our upstairs hallyway - I love it!!!! ![]() |

by mommybgood on Sep. 7, 2008 at 12:20 AMSounds like the green is a winner...:) Maybe that's why I had 6 greens on my wall....LOL...So you can have BOTH your favorites if you use green on the wall and get a really nice dark stain for the mantel....now all you have to do is convince the husband....:) Can't wait to see it!!!
