Back in Black...need refinishing help!

I have a little table that I really want to refinish and paint black...you know, that kind of matte-to-satin black that's very popular with the two tone furniture these days?! WELL...I have no idea how to do it. Has anyone here done something like this? What's the easiest way? Here's a picture of my table...

Please don't pay attention to the little fingerprints! :)

I would probably start by sanding it down and then spray paint it. Make sure you seal it after that with a varnish or something.

Really? Just spray paint? Is there a certain brand I should look for?

And no, it's not an antique. We bought it about 8 years ago at a lamp store, that's why I don't feel badly about painting it black! ;) lol

I have done several pieces in black, and I've found a couple products I really like....

Use a wipe on liquid sandpaper/deglosser, it will be alot easier on those turnes legs than trying to sand...

-if you want to go the antiqued distressed look, Rustoleum has a kit with everything you'll need...look for it a Lowes.

-if you just want a plain satin black I would use Rustoleum Canyon Black in satin finish I've spray painted and brushed, and frankly had better results brushing, it just takes more time.  Then for wearability do a couple coats of Minwax wipe on poly...that will be much easier to use on those turnes legs...

she is for sure the pro to listen to no this subject. I spray painted my hutch and will never do it again, it wasn't evenly applied...it was flat so it wipes off, and made the furniture "rough" I put a sealer over it to keep the color on..but one day i will end up sanding it back down and brush painting it.
