Once again, I would like to give little packages of goodies with the presents for family....I'm looking for tried and true cookie and candy recipes that would be fun to make with the kids and a hit with the Grandparents! Would LOVE some new ideas!

  Chocolate Pinwheels

this is for the vanilla layer-

2c flour

1/2t salt

1/4t baking powder

1/2c shortening

1 1/2t vanilla

1c sugar

1 egg

the chocolate layer is the same as above except add 2 1oz squares of semi-sweet chocolate

cut 4 pieces wax paper 12x8 roll the chocolate between 2 and the vanilla between 2.

remove top paper of each and stick them together.  remove the paper from the top.  trim the edges.   roll like a jelly roll.  wrap tight in wax paper and chill.

cut in 1/4' slices and bake at 375  10-12 minutes

I tried looking for this recipe I use for chocolate peanut butter cookies, but I couldn't find it on the Hershey's website. It's usually on the back of the bags of peanut butter chips. Anyway, hersheys.com has some really good recipes :) Also marthastewart.com has REALLY cute holiday ideas. Good luck!
