Our house is 112 yrs old and when we bought it in 1997 there were all these old doorknobs in a drawer that we found. Obviously from some original doors that arent here anymore. (we do still have some doors with them on) Ive always saved them because I planned on doing something with them eventually...I just didnt know what.
I made this coat rack this week. A board and 6 glass doorknobs!

I plan on putting something above it..either decorative, or a shelf. And maybe a bench under it.
*we have more on it now...I just hung those items so the knobs could be seen better*
I LOVE it! I plan on doing the same thing with some extra knobs we have. We have extras from our house because we took originals from a house that was being torn down to match our originals, so now we have some extras. Ours are brass or metal though and not glass. I LOVE glass knobs. So pretty! It looks great! I can kind of imagine how mine will look now. :)

I have double doors that go from my dining room into my living room and they have the metal knobs...they are embossed on the fronts too. Also my bathroom door has an old metal knob that's embossed, but it's more of an oval shape. Kind of elongated.
My front door has glass...but it's just smooth glass.
Way to repurpose beautifully! I used to own an old house that had all glass doorknobs. I was showing a friend thru shortly after buying it and she went nuts over the doorknobs and offered to buy them all. I laughed and said no thanks...I wouldn't have minded losing them but didn't want the hassle of replacing them all!
