DD, DS and I have downsized! From nearly 3000 sq ft to slightly over 1400 sq ft. We are still getting used to the smaller space (well they are, I'm not ~ it's so much easier to keep clean). What's REALLY ironic is that although we are renting, if STBX had allowed me to paint when we were married, I could have seen myself actually choosing the SAME exact colors.
My bedroom is Valspar "Brush Meadow" (I think that that's the name of the color). I looked it up on line, and found the closest one to it. It's a green. Close to a khaki green. My furniture is heavy wood. I believe that it is 'pecan'. It's a medium wood tone. The house also came with blinds. They are DARK wood, and while they block the view and offer 'some' privacy they let too much light through, and since the condo is a ground level home, and the sun rises DIRECTLY in to the bedroom, I would like the bedroom to stay darkened PAST 6:00 am. I often work late shifts, so I would like to stay sleeping in the morning. The blinds WILL be covered.
My bed linens are cream colored, with the exception of the bed skirt, which is a golden color, Looks REALLY good with the wood and the green walls. I also have an arm chair in the bed room. It covered in a cream colored too. When I was married I could NOT have anything even close to white, it would get destroyed. I can't tell you how many times he would eat chicken wings on the sofa and drop the, sauce and all on the cushions. OR come in after yard work and plop down all dirty and sweaty. I don't think that STBX had respect for items, it was customary for him to walk in to the house across the hardwood floors, wearing his golf spikes. If I confronted him, his answer would be, "It's my d**n (________)! I can do whatever I WANT.
So now, I want to get window coverings to go OVER the blinds. I am thinking about thermal or black out curtains, but I have no idea what color to get. I don't want to introduce too many colors in to the room. I like to keep it simplistic. So, what color window coverings would YOU suggest? I thought cream, another opinion has been brown to match the blinds....Any other suggestions?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated..
