Please show us pics of your kitchen. I have seen lots of posts about various "theme ideas" for kitchens so I thought this woud be a great place to start.

We just bought our house 2 months ago so I am slowly redoing everything but I finally got my cabinets painted. The previous owners started it but then were getting foreclosed on so I had to finish it. I am still going to add handles on the cabinets and eventually I am going to get a new white dishwasher to match everything else and I'm putting in an island.

    Here is the before

    And after

The blue really POPS! especially surrounded by the white cabinets. What an update.....Oh and yes a white dishwasher would work better.

  •       I LOVE THAT KITCHEN ITS HUGE AND THE BLUE IS BEAUTIFULL. MY KITCHEN IS SO SMALL THE HOUSE I CALL IT (COZY AND SO IS THE KITCHEN , ) BUT THIS COMING SUMMER I THINK WE ARE GOING TO DO THE KITCHEN, IM STARTING NOW, IM LOOKING FOR WALLPAPER AND NEW FLOORING AND I WANT TO DO ALL THIS WHEN WE RIPE OUT THE CABINETS THE WALLPAPER I WILL HANG AND THEN GET THE FLOORING NOW AND THEN PUT THE FLOOR IN WHEN WE RIPE OUT THE CABINETS AND THE LAST THING IS THE CABINETS AND WE WILL DO IT OURSELF. BUYING THE CABINETS AND I WILL STAIN THEM MYSELF AND I AM WORKING ON THE KITCHEN TABLE TODAY. IM PAINTING THE LEGGS AND THE BOTTOM DARK BLUE AND STAIN THE TOP AND THE UNDERNEATH.. WAITING FOR THE SECOND COAT TO DRY AND GOING TO PUT THE LAST COAT ON AND THEN TONIGHT STAIN IN TONIGHT OR IN THE MORNING. GOING TO SURPRISE THE BOYFRIEND WHEN HE COMES HOME ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY. IM HOPE THIS TABLE TURNS OUT THE WAY I PICTURED IT I DONT HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA OR I WOULD PUT A BEFORE AND AFTER. EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT DAY.

  • Hi Caham,

What a beautiful kitchen you have. If I might suggest....yes the a small curtain would be a good thing to put in the kitchen.
Keeping with the other red drapes. I would think a nice red tapered cornice board . Would make the kitchen cohesive and consistent.
Give it the little kick of color that it needs!!!

    Beautiful Bella!!!

  • Hi,

I have a few suggestions that might help. Starting with the paint color that is on the wall. I would switch that out to another accent color. The rooms in the home should have some kind of flow. What colors palette is going through your home now?

For instance, if you have yellow then you stick to something in the yellow family. A shade lighter or darker, you get the idea.

I could see a nice darker slate blue or a brick red int this kitchen.

Around the sink area I would paint it a darker shade of whatever color your going with. All the other walls a complimentary shade of the color on the walls.

More color can then be added by bringing in accent pieces, and accessories, like place mats, table cloths, window treatments etc.

The one wall near the counter where nothing is there. You might want to consider some shelving... or a big picture. It's dead space without anything in there. Good Luck!!

    Let me know your thoughts.
