I would like to say for any one who does not know this, but if you have a local library, a lot of them have, machines (die cut)  that will cut out all kinds of different patterns, birds, fruits, veggies, airplanes, boxes, sandwiches bag puppets (you cut out, glue part on the bottom of the bag and lift up the bottom and glue the other part, then the kids can make the animals and such move). You must take your own card stock/construction paper along. Some library's have a lot to choose from. The kids love this.

Crayons with salt water wash: Draw with crayons on dark construction paper. Then paint the entire picture with a mixture of lots of salt and water. When the water dries, the picture will sparkle.

Crayon Shaving:Make crayon shavings by peeling off the jackets of various colored crayons and inserting them in a pencil sharpener. Then spread glue over a sheet of paper, or moisten the sticky side of a length of paper tape and press the crayon shavings into an interesting design or picture on the paper.

Crayon Reverse: Children cover all of the white paper with a heavy layer of colored chalk. With a black crayon color heavily over the chalk. Put a second piece of white paper on top of the colored paper. Draw a design or picture with pencil, pressing hard. Separate the drawings and there will be a positive and a reverse.

Baby Oil Drawing: Use any color bond paper, cotton balls/cotton swabs, paintbrush, baby oil in small dish, newspaper on table. Dip the cotton ball into baby oil and draw on the paper with it. Dip the cotton swab or paintbrush in it and draw some more. After it soaks in, have the children lift their pictures up to the light to see their works of art.

After you have made your "colored sand" you can pour it into any kind of bottle with a lid. Layer the colors. When your done make sure you put a piece of paper towel in the lid (air pockets) and glue the lid on (so little hands can't open it and eat the sugar or make a mess).

Jingle Spoons
This is an easy craft for a musical instrument, using items you probably already have at home. Crafts like these are an easy way to occupy your kids when it's too cold to play outside.
Approximate Time: 30 minutes

Supplies:
  a.. 2 plastic spoons
b.. 4 inch (approx.) length of ribbon or string
  c.. jingle bell
  d.. 2, 12 inch pipe cleaners
  e.. craft glue
Instructions:
Slide bell onto center of ribbon or string, then tie the ribbon/string to make a knot over the top of the bell to hold it in place. Set this aside for now.
Lay one spoon on table, bowl side up, and put glue down the handle. Now, lay the ribbon/string ends into the glue, and place more glue over the ribbon/string. The bell will sit in the bowl of the spoon.

Place the second spoon, bowl side down this time, over the first to glue the handles of both spoons together. You can hold the handles together with clothespins until the glue dries, at least enough so the glue isn't slippery any longer. Some craft glues dry very quickly.

Place a little glue over the outside of the handles and wrap the handles with pipe cleaners. It should take two.

To play your instrument, just hold it by the handle and shake
