my oldest just meets the october 1st cutoff, he will be 5 sept 29th. I am kind of mad, we went for his "screening" and it didnt go well! They asked him to draw a person, he did GREAT, arms, legs, body, belly button, head, eyes nose and mouth! NOPE wasnt good to them, it had no clothes on!
they verbally said to him "if i had 10 pennies and took 3 away, how many would I have?" of course he says...IDK?! he did so bad he has to go back another time!! he is not slow, nor stupid, they are expecting ALOT from a 4 yr old, who has never been in preschool! what happened to the basic ABD's and 123's and shapes...i dont get it, if we teach our kids everything at home...what are teachers for?!!!![]()
btw, this is at the larchmont school in mount laurel
i did not like larchmont. i took my daughter there for a preschool screening for special needs. and all they tested was fine/gross motor and cognitive, not the areas she's failing in. so of course she scores off the charts and did not qualify. they didn't screen speech, social abilities, none of that. sorry you had a bad experience. the worst that's goign to happen is they'll put him in a full day and then realize he's ready and change him to 1/2 day. good luck hun. my daughter is going to hillside and loved the screening. lol she was the kid that ASKED to do more! haha go figure, here i was worried she'd not do well socially cuz she doesn't like new people. but she proved me wrong. thank god.
