We just found out we're expecting again and we have 2 year old twins. Well, we would like to stay in our current car for finacial reasons but right now our twins both have the Britax Marathon carseats which are HUGE and there is no way that we could fit an infant carseat between them. We have a 2006 Mazda Tribute. Does anyone know what the most narrow convertible carseats on the market are here in the US. And which are the most safe, I already hate that we're having to take them out of the Britax because I LOVE these seats so I don't want to sacrifice safety as well. Thank you ladies!

The Sunshine Kids Radian is the narrowest on the market.  They are supposed to be hard to install in most cars.  It is best to try them out in your car just to see.  Here is a link that will tell you measurements of many popular car seats.

I have a Ford Escape which is the same as the Tribute. You might have an easier time then you think.

Are the twins forward facing or rear-facing? Do you have belt stalks that have webbing or are they ridged?

Well i've had them rear facing, but by the time the new baby gets here they'll be a month away from three so if I HAVE to i'll turn them around although I had planned on keep them rear facing as long as their seats would allow. And the belt stalks are webbed, but I only use the latch key anchors because I really don't trust the seatbelts. What type of car seats do you use? And are you able to fit 3 across? I've been doing some research and found the narrowest on the market is actually the Evenflo Tribute but they're only 1/2 and inch wider the the Cosco Scenera. I figured after we find out how many are in there Monday morning and there is only 1 then we'll take the car to babies r us and see if we can fit 3 across of either of those comfortably. But if you've been able to fit 3 across PLEASE let me know what kind so that I can check into those. I really don't want to have to change vehicles. Although if its twins again obviously its time for a mini van lol.

I have fit 3 across but it's tight. Really tight. I've put a rear-facing Britax Roundabout (about an inch narrower then the Marathon), and infant seat in the middle, and a very narrow high back booster outboard. Right now I have a Marathon in the middle and a booster outboard, but its REALLY hard to fit another seat on the other side (my DD is in a belt only at almost 12, so I off center the Marathon so that the booster on the other side will fit). With LATCH and webbed belts, I'd try out the Radian, problem is that you cannot get it anywhere but online. So I'd buy 2 to start with, and install them and go from there. You might be able to fit 2 radians RFing and an infant seat in the center, of if you have to turn the twins FF, I'm positive the infant seat will fit in the center no problem. The Radians are pretty narrow.

Forget the Tribute! Chances are VERY good your twins have already outgrown them by height. They are VERY short. Total waste of money.

I may just try the scenera then because it is more narrow than the Radian and at a much better price. We found out this morning that there appears to be only one which is good news so hopefully we can stick with our Tribute. What are the height limits on the Tribute? My DDs are only about 34" tall. Thanks for the help!
