Leigha is 4 months and only 8 lbs 15 oz....(her twin is 12.9)she is loosing weight and throwing everything up.  These have been mentioned and offered and I don't know what to do or how to go about making the decision.  She is having a endoscopy done on Thursday and I don't know if I should just get them to do one of these so they don't have to put her under twice.  Please help...I want the good and bad knowledge and experiences.  She is on Prevacid, Reglan, Zantac and Neocate.

My son just had this done August 6th. Normally they want to do the Endo and a Swallow study (Upper GI) before they will do the Nissen and G-tube. So you will not get out of going under more then one time by doing the surgery. My son tried all those and they did nothing for him. Reglan made him mean and he would shake. But this is not a surgery to take lightly...She will no longer be able to burp or throw up by mouth. Also another thing I would not let them do a Nissen without a G-tube. The G-tube is so needed for burping or if the baby starts to gag.  Usually if they do a Nissen without a G-tube then they need to go in for another surgery to put in a tube. Also for some kids it just takes some of the GERD away but not all. Some still need to take the GERD Meds.  If you got any questions or anything please PM me..

Just wondering how everything turned out...

Had she been spitting up or definite emesis?  How's her skin and bowel movements?

Nissen and g-tube (we like MIC-Key looks like a little button) work well in conjunction for feeding and venting.  First year of baby's life is important for brain development, she needs adequate nutrition to promote cell growth.
