My son has done very well in high school, it has been a long hard road. We took the SAT and ACT and did okay. We are now in the process of looking for colleges. The state universities in Florida are rather large and our community college in my county is over 40,000 students with additional budget cuts and less classes. My son learns better in a smaller environment, so we have decided after doing our homework that a private college would be best for him. The school also provides a special testing center that the other universities don't have. Private colleges are extremely expensive. We have visited the university that my son will most likely attend. The admissions counselor saw his grades and his ACT scores and they were well above the schools standards so being accept to the school is not a problem, she even recommended that we apply for a special duel enrollment program which holds a place in there graduate school. The school said we would receive so much scholarship money, but the school is still very expensive. I have been looking for scholarships and found a few, the good ones are still based on financial needs which we would not qualify for We are not poor but it is still hard to afford this private school. Has anyone found any good scholarships for their Aspie student. When my son first started high school I was told that if a child with a disability graduated with a grade point average of a 3.5 or higher there would be a lot of scholarship offering, I have searched and don't really see them. Maybe I am missing something?

First, I'd like to congratulate you both for your son's wonderful achievement!!!!
It's not easy to get such grades and it's not easy to be a mom to an Aspie boy and get him through school to this point; I should know!
As for your question- I'm also looking at scholarships and can NOT find any for people like us who do NOT qualify for financial need ones. T had wonderful grades this year and I believe that he will keep it us this way, so he will probably have a high point grade average when he graduates as well, but to get a scholarship...you need to prove that you have a financial need, from what i've seen so far. I couldn't find other kind of scholarships out there. Even the ones that are based on disabilities are like that.
If you find anything else, please let me know, and if I do, I will let you know!

Have you registered with Fastweb.com and schoolsoup.com?
I know on Fastweb you fill out a questionnaire based on your family and personal history, etc...using this info they find scholarships or other funding that you can follow up on. Hope this helps.
