Hi, i live in Belle Missouri, near Rolla, just wondering if anyone knew of a good doctor for Lupus around here? When I got diagnosed, I was in the hospital at Jefferson City in 2008, Ihave not gone back to that specialist because we have no money:) But I got approved for disability and as soon as my benefits begin I need to go to the doctor. I go to the local doctor here and she treats my "rash" but says it is allergies. I love her to death but I think I need a specialist:) If I dont find one in Rolla , which is closer, I will go back to Jefferson City.
thanks everyone for listening!:)

Good luck in your search Connie! I know that trying to find a good doctor can be frustrating! We got very lucky in that aspect! We live in a very small town and theirs only one rheumatologist within 75 miles, but thankfully we love him!! Having a good doctor makes all the difference so keep looking and Good luck!!

The american college of rhuemetology has a list of rhuems for each state. Here is the link! http://www.rheumatology.org/directory/geo.asp
Thanks guys. You cant just go to a rheumatologist , though, cant you? Dont you need a referal?
Im in same boat my current dr is not right for me and I have contacted the LFA for recomendations and my current dr was on the list so it makes me think the list isnt very good! So im doing a trial and error thing ill keep trying drs till I find one thats right! Stinks there isnt a easier way!
Yes it does stink! I have gone to 3 rhuems to find one. I think the lists they have are just every licensed rhumetologist, not recommended ones.
The first one I saw actually had a series of complaints filed against him and was in the process of being pushed out of his practice. Now when I try to decide if a new doctor is someone I am going to continue seeing I take my 2 year old with me. If they ignore him and act like he isn't there I'm not coming back.

That's a pretty good idea!! That should let you know right away what kind of bedside manner the dr has!
