My family doctor sent me to a rheumatologist. That's who gave me the diagnosis. I was so far advanced with the disease process it didn't take much.

Hi ML13, Love the beautiful picture! To answer your question, I was FINALLY diagnosed by an oncologist, only because I was with my grandma during her visit, and her Dr. saw I was ill, and she made me an appt. (oncologists are wicked smart). Today I see a rheumatologist, and a G.P. What kind of Dr. do you see?

I went to an ent because I was getting headaches and having memory problems.  she ordered an mri which showed brain lesions, so from there I spent a week in the hosp having everytest known to man.  finally had a brain biopsy the results confounded my doctors so completely they sent me to the mayo clinic in minn to see a brain disease specialist, he sent me to EVERY other department available and a research specialist happened to sit in on my rhuem appt and suggested CNS lupus w/sojgrens based on all the test results.  they sent my labs to england for some really thorough testing and it came back positive for lupus...finally.

It was suspected when I was a teen, but the definite diagnosis came a year after my youngest was born. I was on Prozac for post partum depression. I went to my internist. I thought I had gout. I did not know that I was a walking example of lupus. My internist ran a series of tests and called me with the news. It turned out that Prozac can cause drug induced lupus. We ran an anti histone test which was off the charts. So, we stopped the Prozac, but I did not get any better. I was referred to a rheumatologist who ran a series of more in depth test and said that the Prozac, by making the symptoms so much worse, made it easier to recognize and that I had true lupus.

I have little lesions all over my brain and wicked headaches and memory problems. The neurologist who looked at the films recognized what was wrong...the radiologist did not.

Almost everyday I have horrible headaches. For the past 2 days I have not but over the last 2 months, there has been only a few days that I have not had one.

See what agravates me the most is that I went to the er back when I was having this rash. The Dr took one look at the rash and all I have been going through and was confident that this was Lupus. He said that you can run a blood test and still have negative results, but still have it. I do the dermatoligist, of course I dont still have the rash from 3/4 weeks ago. She just said to make an appointment and come in when I get it again. I went the the regular drs office and another dr was in and she was like well get back on your thyroid meds, my levels were on the low side of normal, and see what happens. She did take blood though. I feel like the drs do not want tohelp me but just to load me up on meds. I had gotten 5 perscriptions yesterday. 2 creams, antibiotice bc wbc was high, thyroid, and ib profen for the headache and the arthritis. I cant take the ib profen bc it makes me really sick to my stomache. I need to find a good dr that is willing to help me.
