Does anyone have this and if you do, what does your child(ren) think about it?
My sister is getting this for Josef for Christmas this year, but I do not know much about it. Josef fell in love with her Wii last summer, but we did not want Josef getting "hooked" onto video games, neither did Aunt Chelle :-) She was thrilled when she saw this, and thought it would be really nice for Josef.
Josef already has a Leapster which he is addicted to, but this will be great for rainy days!

by JJTaylor on Oct. 13, 2008 at 7:47 PMI am not sure if I can help much... however, we are also getting this for our daughter at Christmas, it's much like the VSmile game console with the movement thrown in there with newer games that can/will play in the newer system... if you have the older VSmile console version games you can also play them into the newer system; you can also use this fun little "thumb drive" tool that hooks to the new console and hold scores, and show how much you have done and how much better they have improved, and then if you choose, you can then log onto a special VTech/Vsmile web sight that then you can load this thumb drive data up and you get points to earn games that will in turn load onto the thumb drive which will allow the child to play on the PC and the console both. I think you can also earn points for other fun things for the web and console interaction. If you understand what the Nintendo Wii is, which we do own and our daughter LOVES, it's much like the Wii, in that you use the cordless joy stick devices and your body to make things move and happen on the TV screen while playing the games. It's suppose to help with getting kids off the couch, but still helping them learn in a technological way! Our daughter has been using her VSmile console and portable since she was 2.5 (she got the portable when she was still 3, and she has learned so much from the games, spelling, letters, colors, numbers, math, you name it they have a fun way of teaching interactively with the child. Plus many of the games use recognizable characters from many of the Nick Jr., Disney channel or Sprout line ups. The games are also not as expensive as many of the "high tech" consoles, usually the games run from $12 to $25 at the most. I hope this helps some? |

by shamillionaire on Oct. 13, 2008 at 7:53 PMWe have one. Can't say much about it. Its ok. I am waiting to give a full review after I purchase another game. I think its fun, but does not keep my childs interest for to long. I feel like the games should have more to them. For some reason I could never get the v-link to work. Also you must purchase the adapter seperately as it does not come with one. The battery route does not last long. I still have mixed feelings, but plan on purchasing another game soon.

Like shamillionaire, the reviews I have seen are so so on VTech Active Learning. Unlike the commercial, many kids lose focus playing on their own or with other children when using it. We have had better reviews from parents who own a Wii console and play interactive games with their children using games such as the new Wii Outdoor Challenge. It is the excitement, the interactivity and the interaction between children and adults that make the Wii games a hit with kids. http://www.ParentsBestToys.com

by momtotwins on Oct. 16, 2008 at 6:51 AMMy twins absolutely love the VSmile. They are really addicted to it. I also bought them the VSmile pockets system to take places. They are now begging for the VMotion, and their birthday is on Saturday. My dad was planning on getting them one, but after reading all the reviews, I don't know if it is worth it. It doesn't sound like it is any more exciting than what they already have. We are looking into buying a Wii or some system comparable.
